Digital Aztec Print

_MG_7325.jpg

I tend to wear a lot of separates, like skirts and tops, or shorts and tops, but I also love to wear dresses every now and then. I really like the aztec print on this dress because it almost looks pixilated and digital. The colors are really vibrant which I hope shows in some of the pictures. The other thing I love about this dress is that the back is almost more interesting than the front! I kept my accessories simple, but I had to wear my color-block heels because the orange just pops with the dress. I hope you like the look!

Casual Floral

_MG_6970.jpg

I have seen so many floral prints this season, but none of the floral print blazers really caught my attention except this little number I got on sale a couple of weeks ago. I like that it has flowers that are actually the color of real flowers rather than neon or black flowers (don’t get me wrong, those can look really cool too). I love to dress up shorts with a fun blazer like this, for a casual dinner night. I wore a bright coral top with jean cut-offs and my floral print blazer. I accessorized with cobalt blue beads, a couple of fun bracelets, and my Zara color-block heels in orange and black. What do you of the look?

On another note, my husband and I went to the restaurant Roost for the first time last night, and I have to say that it was some of the best food I have had in a while. The setting is really intimate and cozy, so you have to go early if you don’t want to wait. If you live in Houston or are planning on visiting, check them out.

I hope you have a great week!

Summer Silk Shorts

_MG_6731.jpg

My solution to beating the summer heat without always having to wear denim shorts or a skirt: silk shorts. You can dress them up or down, depending on the shoes you wear. I love all of the different prints I have been finding them in, and these from BCBG have a great black and blue digital print. Last week on July 4th, my husband and I stopped on the way to dinner to snap a few photos on a bridge.  I was wearing my BGBG printed silk shorts, a black knit  top, and my Valentino rock-stud wedge sandals. I accessorized with a two-tone chain necklace and bracelet. What do you think?

Pattern Play

_MG_6886.jpg

I think that sometimes the best outfits happen by accident. That’s is exactly what happened with this look. I bought both the striped top and the polka dot skirt on sale, and when they were sitting on my bed next to each other I thought, hmmm, that looks pretty cute! I love mixing different patterns, and stripes and dots go really well together as long as they have one common element (in this case the white dots and white stripes). What do you think of pattern mixing?

Color Palette: Cobalt and White

_MG_6572.jpg

One of my favorite color combinations for the summer has to be cobalt blue and white. It reminds me of a summer escape to the Greek islands, and the contrast looks so refreshing. Normally white pencil skirts are not that interesting, but this one from ASOS has the most amazing crochet hem, that makes it a real statement piece (and it’s on sale!). I paired it with a cobalt blue top and white pointed heels for a chic summer look.

Also, I have received many emails asking where I get my chain necklaces I wear in my posts. They are made by Darya Design. They have really reasonable prices, awesome designs that are always on trend (or ahead of trend), and their chains are not too heavy. I am wearing their “Island Hopper” necklace which is perfect for this look since it has a gold chain layered with cobalt blue lapis lazuli beads. What do you think?

Guest blogger: Michelle’s Style File

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you all to one of my favorite bloggers from Australia. One of the best things about blogging is meeting new people with common interests from all over the world, and Michelle is one of them. I have been following Michelle from Michelle’s Style File for long time, and her effortless style, and beautiful personality make her blog a joy to read. I am obsessed with her wooden watch, so I asked her if I could share her post featuring this very unique timepiece. I hope you enjoy!

G’day! I’m Michelle the blogger behind personal style blog Michelle’s Style File.  Layla and I thought it would be fun to exchange guest posts, especially considering we are on opposite sides of the world! I live in Melbourne, Australia where we are in the middle of a rather cold and wet Winter, and have to admit I am a tad jealous of all you folks in the Northern Hemisphere who are enjoying the warm sunshine : )

I thought I would share with you one of my favourite Winter looks.  I did love this outfit with black pointy pumps, but in the end given a drizzly Melbourne day the thought of warm socks won over, so I wore these little ankle boots instead.  I couldn’t leave without saying something about my watch, 100% natural wood by  AB AETERNO.  Such an eye-catching piece, inspired by nature- amazing!

The last couple of pics are taken at our favourite soup spot, The Soup Place, in Degraves Street amongst the laneways of Melbourne city.  The perfect Winter stop!  Have any of you been to Melbourne?

Finally, thank you to Layla for having me over here today.

Bubbles and Stripes

_MG_6396.jpg
Happy Monday everyone! This weekend it was so rainy in Houston, I just had to brighten things up with a fun statement necklace. I love the way this “bubble necklace” looks against a contrasting striped tee. It’s unexpected, but it works! I also like to wear denim on denim, so I paired my comfy boyfriend jeans with a denim jacket. I accessorized with strappy sandals, my Oryany bag in camel, and tortoise shell sunglasses. I hope you like the look!

And the winner is….

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! It has been a wet and dreary weekend here in Houston, which is why I haven’t posted any new outfits, but hopefully the sun will come out soon.

I am so excited though to announce the winner of the Stella And Dot multi-strand coral necklace. The winner was picked at random by the True Random number generator, and that was number 124, Tina!

Congrats Tina, and send in some pictures when you receive it!

Have a great Sunday!

Buba London

_MG_6159.JPG
Every once in a while, I discover a designer that makes such inspired pieces that I can’t help but fall in love. Many months ago, I came across Buba London’s collection of handbags, and I thought to myself, where you have been all my life? All of their pieces have an exotic glamor which I adore. Each piece is unique and really a work of art.  I am wearing their Calypso satchel, which has tiny beads and rhinestones hand-sewn into a geometric patchwork pattern. The strap can be removed if you want to wear it as a clutch. It is such a statement piece! What do you think of it?
